Korean Hand Therapy

Korean Hand Therapy combines the principles of Hand Reflexology and needle-free acupuncture in one type of treatment. This system can be used for all ages and is ideal for children. In traditional Hand Reflexology a reflexologist stimulates reflexes in the entire hand, but in Korean Hand Therapy only specific areas where the person is experiencing pain or discomfort will be stimulated.

In Korean Hand Therapy, the hands are considered to be a micro system of the body. They are aligned from the middle finger down to the wrist on the palm and back of the hand, with the tip of the middle finger containing points for the head and the spine following down the length of this finger on the back of the hand. The coccyx, or tailbone, is located just above the wrist joint on the back of the hand. On the palm side of the hand there is a corresponding line where the internal organs are found in points for the uterus, liver, stomach, and heart. By locating and stimulating specific points on the hands, blocked energy that leads to pain in the body can be resolved.

Stimulation of the hand points in Korean Hand Therapy may involve small acupressure magnetic, gold and silver pellets applied to stimulate a point after a session. A small probe may be used to find painful spots then stimulated with the opposite end of the probe, a small metal rolling device, or the pressure seed is applied.
